Sandra is 33 years old and is a fraternal twin with her sister Raquel. She only weighed 5 pounds and 13 ounces at birth. Our family did not find out they were having twins until 8 months into the pregnancy. During the pregnancy, her mother discovered she had diabetes and was treated with insulin. Sandra was eventually diagnosed with autism and meets qualifications in all 6 categories, where her twin Raquel only meets 3 qualifications. Sandra has always needed extra help and relies heavily on Raquel. Sandra is non-verbal and communicates through pointing and gestures. Sandra struggles with sensory overload, but loves art, music and anything Disney. She has always enjoyed coloring, drawing and art.
